Xiaomi is working on its new flagship device and it can be expected to launch in December during a launch event. The Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X flagship handsets will be launched in China first and then it will make its debut in other markets. In a recent tweet, Xiaomi announced that the new flagship models will carry the Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, under the hood.
This chipset was launched yesterday and is currently the most powerful and fastest Android chipset across the globe. With this, Xiaomi will become the first brand to launch a smartphone powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset in the market. The company has tweeted that it is going to introduce the flagship chipset from Qualcomm in the new Xiaomi 12 series smartphones.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
Equipped with the 4th gen Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System, the new Snapdragon 8 is the most advanced 5G mobile platform and the world's first 5G modem-RF solution to reach 10 Gigabit download speeds. Snapdragon 8 features the Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 Mobile Connectivity System supporting the fastest Wi-Fi speeds available—up to 3.6 Gbps—over Wi-Fi 6 and 6E.
This new premium mobile platform includes the first commercial 18-bit mobile ISP, capturing over 4000x more camera data than its predecessor for extreme dynamic range, color, and sharpness at staggering speeds up to 3.2 gigapixels per second.
This is also the first 8K HDR video capture in a mobile platform and it's capable of capturing in the premium HDR10+ format. Snapdragon 8 also includes a fourth separate ISP, the new Always-On ISP, which allows the camera to run with low power consumption.
Coming back to the Xiaomi 12, it is said to feature a curved Full HD+ AMOLED display with a screen refresh rate of 120 Hz. The fingerprint scanner will be provided inside the display; however, the company has just announced about the chipset and is yet to share other details such as display, design and more. As far as the Xiaomi 12 launch date is concerned, some of the devices in the lineup are tipped to be unveiled in December in China, while the global launch could very well take place sometime in early Q1, 2022. We can expect the brand to start teasing the arrival of the devices in the coming days.
