With summer on the horizon there's no better time to head out into the county and the beautiful Lake District and experience some live music in a variety of stunning settings.

With everything from internationally renowned artists to loud-as-you-like punk powerhouses, acclaimed singer-songwriters and 1960's Merseybeat maestros, there really is something for everyone.

Ulverston International Music Festival

Kicking off the month is Ulverston International Music Festival, offering an eclectic eight day line up of live music.

With everything from English Touring Opera's performances of La Boheme to spiritual and cathartic recitals of Bach on the Cello, plus Julian Joseph's trio of performers on piano, drums and acoustic bass with an evening of jazz, this is one not to miss.

Hang Massive at The Brewery

Blending dream-like acoustic with upbeat electronic sounds, Hang Massive have shaped the global handpan music scene with their magnetising live show.

Their journey began in 2011 with their first music video release "Once Again" which was viewed over 60 million times and its viral success introduced their now global audience to a captivating new instrument.

'Like A Bee Among The Flowers' Choral Concert at Rydal Mount and Gardens

Ambelside 3.30-5.30pm Sunday June 12

Celebrate Wordsworth's birthday in the summer gardens of his own home as Staveley Choral Society performs a carefully curated concert of songs connected to the poet's life, perfect for a midsummer's afternoon.

Held in the natural amphitheatre in Wordsworth's five-acre gardens and offering a beautiful view of Rydal Water and the surrounding hills, the ticket price includes a glass of Prosecco which will be calling out to be sipped.

Don't Stop Queen Now at The Old Fire Station

The Brickyard in Carlisle are fast building a reputation for putting on some of the loudest bands you could hope to experience, and this show is no exception.

With Cumbria headliners From Here On Out bringing their brand of pop punk, easycore, plus Carlisle favourites Haushinka and supporting bands Kidpunk and Ninebanks heading over from the North East, it's sure to be a night full of anarchy.

David Gray at Cartmel Racecourse

Cartmel 6pm (following the races) Friday June 24

Acclaimed singer-songwriter David Gray performs at the south Cumbria course, almost exactly a year to the day from when he was originally due to appear as part of his international anniversary tour.

David shot to fame in 2000 with his fourth album, White Ladder, and on the night fans will have the chance to hear hits like Babylon, This Year's Love and Sail Away after a full race programme.
