While babies typically have just three responsibilities—eating, sleeping, and pooping—one role is at the mercy of parents.
The food. Of course, you can make a baby happy with a quick banana or a handful of Cheerios, but finding the time to give your most beloved human a magical mealtime can feel overwhelming and unbearable. Especially when you barely have enough time in the day to feed yourself more than a handful of Cheerios.
The brand optimized a cold-pressing method that locks in nutrients and helps keep food safe. In addition, the fresh, organic ingredients help you deliver the highest quality foods to your child with little to no effort. Broken down to its most basic level, Omami is a meal delivery service for your baby.
Omami's name comes from the Arabic words "ummah," "umm," and "umumah," which translate to "community," "mother," and "motherhood," respectively, and the Japanese word "umami," which describes foods with a savory taste beyond just sweet, sour, salty, or bitter.
The packaging and branding for the brand are designed by Saskia & Jo Sidey of Sideys Studio. The studio chose to optimize a playful color palette within the system that works for the stand-alone products and creates a gorgeous rainbow range.
Additionally, illustrated characters within the packaging system interact with the open-mouth design found on each product. While the illustrations change between the products, the open-mouth is consistent. Yet, each level of food, from soft textures to more adventurous ones, is represented by the number of teeth in the mouth, highlighting babies' development and progress through weaning.
Because of the cold water pressure system that the brand uses, it has to package its foods in plastic packaging. Yet, as noted on the website, "We've made sure that the plastic is BPA free and widely recyclable, just like the rest of our boxes and additional packaging. We are staying on top of innovation in the packaging industry and will do our best to switch to plastic-free on our journey soon."
Feeding your baby became more manageable, with a side of playful packaging to go along with the ease.
