Egremont Christmas Food Appeal is organising a Santa charity walk to raise 'much-needed' funds for families struggling this Christmas time.
Last month, Egremont Food Appeal returned for 2023 and started a fundraising campaign including a GoFundMe page with a £3,000 target and collection points for non-perishable food.
The team has also organised a sponsored charity walk, on Saturday, December 9, kicking off at the La'al Club, in Egremont that will take participants on a route around Egremont taking in Castle Croft, Main Street and Smithfield and is accessible for all.
Alongside, getting out and raising money, participants will be joined by local football and rugby youth teams, Egremont Ladies Cricket team and, of course, the man himself, 'Santa', who will be joined by Orgill School Elfers (elf helpers).
Daniel Shutt, one of the Egremont Christmas Food Appeal organisers, told The Herdwick News the day isn't just about raising 'much-needed' funds but for people to have fun and celebrate the Christmas cheer.
He said: "We have organised the walk with Santa to add to the fantastic Christmas spirit that we have in Egremont. We really want children and their families to get involved with this, not only to put a smile on people's faces as we pass through the town but to raise much-needed funds for the appeal.
"It's going to be really fun as we walk with Santa and his 'elfers', then we'll get warmed up and have hot chocolate with Santa when we are back at the club."
To take part in the sponsored Santa walk prospective participants can message the group's Facebook page, and suggested sponsorship for children is £10 as this includes a selection box, hot chocolate and a photo with Father Christmas.
