RIVERSIDE — A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping a woman in the Woodcrest area of Riverside County, south of the city of Riverside, according to authorities.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department's Lake Matthews station responded to a call referencing a kidnapping at about 1:16 a.m. Friday.
According to Lt. Jared Howe, Maurice Gamble of Riverside forced the victim to drive him around from the victims' residence to the city of Riverside, where she was able to flee at some point and contact the Riverside Police Department.
The identity of the victim was not disclosed.
Deputies from the Lake Matthews station, with assistance from the Riverside Police Department, caught the suspect in the area of Canyon Ridge Road and Laurel Drive.
Gamble was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of kidnapping, false imprisonment and several weapons charges. Bail was set at $1 million, according to the sheriff's department.
