SAN JOSE, CALIF. — Silver Creek High School's much-anticipated senior prom at Gilroy Gardens in Gilroy promises to be an unforgettable evening for the graduating class of 2024. Scheduled for April 27, 2024.
While transportation won't be provided, the excitement for prom begins with ticket sales starting at $110 from March 1 to March 6, with a modest $5 increment leading up to the final selling dates of April 2 to April 4. But here's a bonus, all prices are slashed by $5 if you've already purchased an Associated Student Body card, otherwise known as an "ASB" card. Tickets are to be purchased at the school bank. If purchasing with a card instead of cash, this may result in a small fee when buying.
Each senior is entitled to one ticket and one purchased guest pass per Student ID. But wait, there's a small formality - permission slips, which will be conveniently available in all senior English and Gov/Econ classrooms in the coming weeks, must be filled out to ensure a seamless prom experience.
The theme for this year's senior prom is "Garden of Enchantment." As the anticipation builds, the festivities will commence with the doors opening promptly at 5 PM. This offers attendees a window of opportunity until 6:30 PM to enter the enchanting venue. Dinner will be elegantly served at 6 PM, providing a perfect prelude to the evening's festivities. However, before entering there will be a coat and purse check.
There is a wide array of activities including a variety of rides, carnival games, caricature drawings, photo booths, live music, and a wide selection of food and desserts that will be offered. As the night progresses, the excitement heightens with the opening of the dance floor, carnival games, and rides at 7 PM, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere for all attendees to enjoy.
However, all good things must come to an end, and at 9 PM, the carnival games and rides will close, signaling a shift in the evening's rhythm. But fear not, as doors for exit will reopen at 10 PM, providing flexibility for those who wish to depart early or take a break before the final moments of the prom. The night will culminate at 11 PM when the prom officially ends.
With anticipation rising, seniors are buzzing with excitement, each harboring their expectations for this magical evening. Jovanna Palacios, a senior, says, "I think it's something to look forward to knowing I'll be able to look back on it as a memorable night with friends."
Despite the excitement surrounding prom, this year has also seen its fair share of complaints. "The price of prom (buying tickets, buying an outfit/renting one, etc.) can act as a deterrent to some because the cost is so high, and then that might lead them to feel alienated because they aren't able to experience and enjoy what their peers might," expresses senior Mary Nguyen, highlighting a common concern among students.
