I sat across the street to draw this Heritage Registered house on George St, Port Moody, B.C., Canada. I have been told, that if you meet the heritage criteria, the property tax is approximately 90% less, to help owners with the maintenance and upkeep of these treasures.
My house sketch drawn on location - George St, Port Moody, B.C.
Having your house registered provides some benefits but does not protect or prevent buildings listed on the Heritage Register from being demolished. https://www.portmoody.ca/en/arts-culture-and-heritage/resources/Documents/Heritage-Register.pdf
Photo taken from my drawing spot. I love the young, spring yellow-green of the maple tree and the dwarfing Douglas fir at the back of the house, and of course the house. I peeked over the fence at the back and side, the garden is also gorgeous, with a few quirky touches.
Hope you're having a great weekend.
Cheers, from Patricia (PJ) Hopwood-Wade
