WEHAT Foundation, in collaboration with the Uganda Golf Club, will hold a Charity Golf Tournament and Photo Exhibition Fundraiser, scheduled for July 5, 2024.
This landmark event aims to raise funds to support quality education for underprivileged children in Uganda.
The event will take place at the Uganda Golf Club in Kitante, with the theme "Empowering Education through the Lens."
The goal is to generate financial support for an education fund dedicated to providing quality education for underprivileged children.
Founded in 2020, the WEHAT Foundation is a Ugandan non-profit organization committed to creating a poverty-free and child-empowered society.
Guided by the principles of equity, inclusion, and accountability, the foundation focuses on five vital pillars: welfare, education, healthcare, advocacy, and talent development.
The charity golf tournament will feature participants from various sectors, including members of the Uganda Golf Club, the business community, and the government sector.
Players will be charged a participation fee, contributing to the fundraising efforts.
A curated collection of photographs capturing the natural beauty of Uganda through the eyes of a young Ugandan woman will be displayed.
These powerful images, taken by Molly Kabamoli and mentored by renowned photojournalist Faith Ariho, demonstrate the resilience of children facing adversity, evoking emotions and inspiring generosity.
The event offers various sponsorship packages, providing opportunities for brand visibility and community engagement.
The Gold Sponsorship package, priced at UGX 5,000,000, includes exhibition space, participation in the press conference, media communications, and branding opportunities.
The Silver Sponsorship package, priced at UGX 4,000,000, includes similar benefits with added flexibility in branding and exposure.
Fundraising mechanisms include ticket sales, print sales, sponsorships, and donations.
Corporate teams, individual participants, and guests can purchase tickets to partake in the tournament and related activities.
Limited edition prints of the exhibited photographs will be available for purchase, with proceeds going towards the Education Fund.
The fundraiser aims to raise UGX 150 Million, which will be allocated towards paying school fees for 20 students for a year, revamping and rehabilitating a school, and supporting various educational programs and activities.
Musa Abdul Rugamayo, Team Leader at the WEHAT Foundation, explained, "Education is a fundamental right that lays the foundation for a child's future. Unfortunately, many children across Uganda face barriers to accessing quality education. This fundraiser aims to address this issue by mobilizing resources through an engaging and impactful event."
Derrick Muhumuza, the Competitions and PR Secretary at Uganda Golf Club, added, "We are thrilled to partner with WEHAT Foundation on this meaningful charity event. Education is where the future starts, and anything to make this fund possible is in our best interest."
"We also proudly announce that our Ladies Golf President, Ms. Doreen Mwesigye, is joining the foundation as the Patron for the WEHAT Education Fund. Doreen is passionate about education, having served on the UWESO board."
The green fees are as follows: 1,000,000 UGX for the gold team of 4 players, with special benefits; 500,000 UGX for the silver team of 4 players, with its own benefits; and 60,000 UGX for individual players.
