Halimah Nakaayi's quest for Olympic glory at the Paris Games has come to an end.
Competing in the Women's 800m, Nakaayi failed to advance to the semifinals after finishing a disappointing 6th place in the Repechage Heat One with a time of 2:02.88.
Following her missed opportunity to secure an automatic spot in the semifinals on Friday, Nakaayi faced a crucial challenge on Saturday.
She needed a first-place finish in her Repechage Heat to progress. Additionally, the top two fastest times across all heats would also earn a place in the semifinals, but Nakaayi's performance fell short of this mark.
This outcome marks another setback for Nakaayi, who also missed the final of the Women's 800m at the previous Olympics in Tokyo.
Despite her remarkable gold medal win at the 2019 World Championships in Doha, she has struggled to replicate that success on the global stage.
