Tokyo recap – China dominated, winning four gold medals, 66 percent of the team medals, claiming 1 silver and three bronze. China only missed out on medals in two events, the men's W1 and the women's compound. It was a shock in the W1 as Zhang Tianxin qualified 3rd but fell in his quarterfinal. In the women's compound, Lin Yueshan made the quarterfinal but lost to the eventual silver medalist Mariana Zuniga who made an incredible run to the final.
Schedule – August 29 – September 5. Medal events: August 31 – September 5.
Paris expectations
China will be dominant again, like Korea is at the Olympics so China is at the Paralympics. The dominance continued at the world championships when they won 7 gold, 1 silver and three bronze.
Expect the biggest challenge to come from Turkiye with Oznur Cure and Bahattin Hekimoglu looking like strong chances to medal. The W1 team is also strong and could well beat the Chinese team, the men winning silver at the World Championships.
Also from Europe, Great Britain and Italy were the only other countries to pick up multiple golds in Plzen but Great Britain's golds all came in categories that won't be contested in Paris. Italy's men's compound win by Matteo Bonacina is the only one in action in Paris for the Italians.
Other gold medals in categories that will be contested in Paris went to India (Compound team), Australia (Christopher Davis' men's W1 win), Czechia (W1 team) and the United States (Kevin Mather's men's recurve win).
