*Maroons Vs BUL - 5pm
*Vipers Vs NEC - 8PM
BUL FC will commence their defense of the FUFA Super 8 tournament title against Maroons in the first leg of the quarterfinals at St Mary's Stadium in Kitende.
Last year, BUL clinched the 2023 FUFA Super 8 title after a dramatic shootout victory over URA FC, following a goalless draw at Lugogo.
In the league, BUL secured four points from Maroons last season, with a 3-0 win at Njeru and a goalless draw in Luzira.
They finished second in the league with 56 points, just one point behind champions SC Villa.
Maroons, meanwhile, concluded their season in seventh place with 41 points.
The FUFA Super 8 is a pre-season tournament organized by FUFA for clubs that finished in the top eight places last season.
This year, the eighth-placed team, URA, has been replaced by a FUFA select team.
The tournament serves as an opportunity for teams to test their squads and integrate new players ahead of the upcoming season.
BUL FC have already unveiled new signings Bakali Magumba, Thomas Ochungo, Najib Fesali, Dickson Mataama, and Isaac Wagoina.
On the other hand, Maroons have lost key players including goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo, David Ndihabwe, Abraham Tusubira, and Fred Amaku.
They have brought in Rogers Kiwanuka, Ivan Asaba, Ibrahim Dada, and Apollo Kagogwe in an effort to rejuvenate their squad.
The quarterfinals will be played on a two-legged basis, with the return leg set to take place at Lugogo on Wednesday. In addition to BUL's clash with Maroons, Vipers SC will face NEC FC at Kitende on the same day and venue.
On Saturday, August 3, Kitara FC will play against KCCA FC, and the FUFA Select Team will compete against SC Villa at Lugogo.
The winners of these quarterfinals will advance to the next round, with BUL or Maroons facing the victor of Kitara/KCCA, and the winner of Vipers/NEC taking on the winner of Select Team/SC Villa.
Teams that lose in the quarterfinals will participate in placement games.
