*KCCA FC 0-1 Kitara
*FUFA Select 2-1 SC Villa
FUFA Select team came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa at Lugogo on Saturday in a dramatic FUFA Super Eight quarterfinal first leg.
Sam Ssimbwa's side displayed resilience after going a goal down to Villa's Arnold Odongo, who bundled in after David Owori's freeckick was slightly deflected by James Begisa.
However, the Select team, comprised of players from teams finishing outside the UPL top seven, found their equalizer through a dramatic penalty.
Isaac Ogwang converted from the spot after a questionable foul on him by Villa defender Masembe. Despite protests, the referee stood firm on his decision.
The match's turning point came with 12 minutes remaining, as Godfrey Ssekibengo unleashed a powerful strike from outside the box, which eluded Villa goalkeeper Jeans Brady Wokorach.
SC Villa will feel they could have done better, notably Patrick Jonah Kakande's shot that struck the crossbar.
The pressure now mounts on the Jogoos, who recently parted ways with coach Dusan Stojanovic, as they prepare for the return leg on Wednesday at Lugogo.
