Hey guys, how's it going? Rahul here coming in with a brand new blog. I hope everyone is having a great, safe, and healthy week. So, let's begin.

Story:

Yuuichi is a high school student who cherishes his high school friends. However, after the funds for a school field trip go missing, some of his friends are put in the spotlight causing them to distance themselves from the group. One day, they are all brought together and knocked out only to wake up and find themselves stuck in a room. Now, they are subjected to playing games that test their friendship and slowly decreases their personal debt. However, maybe the friends aren't as close as Yuuichi thought they were.

Review:

This is definitely one of those anime that you appreciate more as a once-a-week kinda watch rather than an all-at-once. And I got to experience the best of both worlds as I started the anime when it was around episode 7 so this review will give you a good perspective of what I'm talking about.

Let's start with the plot first. Honestly, not the biggest fan. This anime can be easily described as a combination of classroom of the elite and squid game. While the anime did a great job with the characters, games, and creative thinking, I feel like the plot was quite lacklustre and bland. My title for this blog of "extreme power of friendship" is quite justified in the sense that the anime completely revolves on friendship, trust, and deception. It is extreme because it is literally an entire anime that capitalises on this power of friendship. The plot in itself was not something that captures its' audience. As a matter of fact, the plot is made to be nothing but a background necessity in order for the show to make sense. There's nothing that truly stands out in terms of plot but that is not to say that this aspect "ruins" the whole anime.

Definitely the highlights (and saving grace) for the anime are the characters, the games, and the suspense of it all. And this is where I come to my point of this anime being a good once-a-week watch. The suspense at the end of each episode builds up some much needed anticipation to see how the games will progress and how the relationship of the characters will be affected as well. Each character has their own story which his always appreciated and their individual stories are quite intriguing as well. But, above this all, what prevented this anime from being "boring" in any kind of way has to be the games and the mindset of our beloved Yuuichi. I always love an anime with plot twists and games that are easy to understand yet have loopholes that are not very noticeable. The games were simple kid games that are given a much higher intellectual twist. Yuuichi is a great mc with thoughts and actions that leave the audience at awe or curiosity. He is a man of mystery with a much darker past than we had all anticipated which gives the story a lot more depth. At the same time, the way he uses his friends and considers his relation with them always keeps you thinking if he is truly good or evil in his intention. The suspense build up for this anime is phenomenal and that is what truly made this anime worth watching.

I would be lying if I said I was genuinely excited for upcoming seasons. The ending of the anime, although quite thrilling, was way too extra for how the anime started off. What began as something more psychological turned into more violence and gore which I was not ready for. That being said, the anime still has a lot of unanswered questions and still a lot more potential in terms of character development. I am mostly excited to see what games are in store for us and what kind of plot twists are we going to be surprised with. The animation style was good. The opening and ending songs were decent listens. Would I recommend this anime? Probably not right now. But, let's see what's in store. Overall, an above average anime.
