City Oilers beat KIU Titans 71-43 in a National Basketball League game held at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.
This game, a repeat of last year's final, did not meet the anticipated intensity as the Oilers led from start to finish.
The Oilers set the tone early with a commanding 25-7 lead in the first quarter, a gap KIU Titans could not close throughout the game.
The Oilers' superiority was evident as they out-rebounded KIU 61-38. The Titans struggled with their shooting, managing just 1-for-24 from long range.
Moses Maker was the standout performer with a game-high 15 points.
Ben Komakech and Titus Lual contributed 12 points each, with Lual also securing 19 rebounds to complete a double-double.
On the KIU side, Mpiya Juf achieved a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Edgar Munaaba added 10 points, being the only other Titans player to score in double digits.
This victory, their 18th in 19 games, brings the Oilers closer to securing the top seed heading into the playoffs.
It also sends a strong message to their rivals, including the Nam Blazers, who were defeated by the Oilers last Friday.
Despite losing key players James Okello, Jimmy Enabu, and Tonny Drilleba, the Oilers have proven their resilience and strength.
The defeat marks the fourth for the KIU Titans in 20 games, yet they remain just one win away from sealing second place in the league.
