By Marion Malinga on August 27, 2024

Monday Results

Baby Cricket Cranes opening batter, Gerald Olipa banged a ton of 137 as Busoga College, Mwiri pummeled St. James Secondary School by 228 runs on Monday in their third game at the Boys Schools Cricket Week ongoing in Jinja.

Olipa who opened alongside Edgar Mudoola raced to that ton after facing just 41 balls. The opener hit a dozen of fours and as many sixes before being caught at the end of the 11th Over.

He was also the driving force in the morning game that saw Mwiri thump tournament debutants Horizon International School by 202 runs, coming short of a century by 3 runs.

After three games played, Mwiri top Group C with maximum points, but they are level on points with Aga Khan High School who also boast a clean bill of three wins.

The other sides that have won all their opening three games include last year's losing finalists Nyakasura School and defending champions Jinja Senior Secondary School.

Nyakasura beat Gulu High School by 7 wickets while the host school beat Kiira College, Butiiki by 8 wickets. Nyakasura's Steven Aliganyira pocketed 6 wickets including a hat trick in that game, conceding just 6 runs in his 3.3 Overs.

Caleb Owinya (4/16) and Pius Oloka (3/6) were the top wicket takers in their game.

Monday witnessed some brilliant performances from various grounds. Aside from Olipa and Aliganyira, Aga Khan's Ali Abraiz picked four wickets against Soroti SS, St. Joseph College, Layibi's Ronald Rubankene knocked an unbeaten 86 against Ntare School, and Singh Gurjivan from Delhi Public International School scored 61 not out against Kings College, Budo.

Delhi Public are currently second in Group B with four points, two behind leaders Nyakasura while Jinja SS lead Group A with 6 points, two ahead of St. John's SS, Mukono.

Games continue on Tuesday across six grounds in Jinja.

#BSCW24 resumes with Matchday 3 morning fixtures across 6 venues.
